Terms and Conditions of hire
Please read these terms and conditions carefully, as they apply when hiring a vehicle from us. They include important information and form the basis of any agreement between us should you wish to proceed with hiring a vehicle.
Cherry Camper Hire is a trading name of Cherry Campers Ltd.
Please be advised if you do not adhere to the Terms & Conditions regarding Driver Age, Insurance requirements, Payment, Driving Licences & history, Identification Required and Rental Payment Terms when collecting your vehicle our Cancellation Policy will be enforced.
All drivers must be aged between 25 and 79 years old. Driver’s aged 21-24 may only rent standard category, economy and short wheel based vans, so unfortunately cannot hire a Camper van.
All drivers must have held a valid Full UK Manual driving Licence for a minimum 4 years. All our vans have a Manual transmission, so holders of an Automatic only license will not be permitted to hire.
Drivers are personally liable for all legal penalties (e.g. speeding tickets, parking fines, toll fees etc), which are incurred during the hire period. All such fines and penalties will be passed on to the hirer and are in no way the responsibility of Cherry Camper Hire.
Proof of ID and driving licence
We will require a DVLA license check, which can be requested here up to 21 days before hire commences, we will either accept a formal copy of the license check or you can provide us with the code to allow us to view the check online, the code can be sent to us any time in the 21 days prior to the hire commencing. https://www.gov.uk/view-driving-licence
The Licence must have less than 6 penalty points at the time of hire commencing.
The proof of address must be dated within 90 days of the rental start date and match the address on the licence. The hirer must provide 2 separate forms of identification, e.g. Council Tax Bill, Landline Phone Bill, Gas Bill, Electricity Bill, Bank Statement or Credit Card Bill plus a form of photo identity e.g. passport if the driver does not hold a photocard driving licence. Cherry Camper Hire reserve the right to take and hold copies of these documents. If additional proof of address or photo identity is not produced then the campervan will not be released and the full cost of hire will be forfeited.
Should you be unable to fulfil the stated ID requirements please contact us directly prior to making a booking.
Driver must be present with matching photo ID at the commencing of the hire.
Please note we MUST have these items before you can drive the van therefore we strongly recommend that this is completed prior to the day of collection to ensure your experience runs as smoothly as possible.
A deposit of 10% is required to secure a booking. This can be paid online.
While we do our very best to ensure that all availability shown online is kept up to date and in real time, all reservations are only binding once the booking is confirmed by Cherry Camper Hire.
Full payment is required 30 days prior to date of hire. This can be paid online using your booking account.
Vehicles will not be released without full payment being completed.
The insurance excess/damage/security deposit is payable on the day of collection.
Fully comprehensive insurance is included in the hire charge for driving in the UK only.
European insurance is available at a cost of only £15 per day.
Our insurance company may impose surcharges for certain medical conditions therefore you must inform us of any medical conditions you may have at the time of booking or prior to collection of the campervan or the insurance may be invalid.
Drivers are to be aged between 25 to 79 years old with a minimum of 4 years driving experience with a full UK driving licence. There is an insurance excess of £500 for drivers age 25-70.
It is the hirer’s responsibility to provide their own insurance to cover personal items, belongings and personal injury in the event of an accident.
There is a £500 insurance excess/damage deposit, which must be paid for each hire period. This is a condition set out by our insurance company in the event of any damage to the vehicle or third party property. This must be paid by credit or debit card using our online deposit facility 2 days before the hire commences. This insurance excess will be fully refunded at the end of the hire period minus any costs for lack of fuel, dirty vehicle etc. Cherry Camper Hire do not offer damage waiver and the £500 excess will be immediately forfeited should any damage occur.
Should any damages exceed the security deposit the hirer will be responsible for settling the additional costs in full.
The insurance does not include the following & all costs are the responsibility of the hirer.
Any deliberate or wilful act
Putting incorrect fuel in the vehicle – our campervans run on diesel
Locking keys in vehicle
If the hirer leaves the vehicle unlocked or fails to ensure keys are secure
Internal damage or breakage
Tyre damage or punctures
Any damaged caused by animals
Damage caused by cooking
Collection of vehicle
The vehicle will be available for collection between 2pm and 5pm on the day of hire commencing. Please allow a minimum of 30 minutes to demonstrate the workings of the vehicle and its accessories. Other times may be available upon special request.
The vehicle will have a full tank of fuel and a full underslung LPG gas bottle with enough gas for your journey. We endeavour to ensure this will be adequate for normal usage but if required the LPG tank can be refilled at some petrol stations, please keep a receipt and we will reimburse an LPG cost if a VAT receipt is given.
Leaving your vehicle with us
Rentals with Cherry Camper Hire include free parking for the duration of your rental. Any vehicles and possessions are left entirely at your own risk. Cherry Camper Hire accepts no responsibility for damage/loss incurred while vehicles are left unattended.
Return of the Vehicle
All vehicles MUST be returned with a full tank of the correct type fuel and in a clean condition.
All vehicles must be returned no later than 11am on the agreed return date set out on the booking confirmation.
If you wish to return the vehicle after the time originally specified, you should contact us to agree this. You will be charged for any day or part day you have the vehicle after the original agreed rental date in accordance with our standard rates.
All equipment and extras must be returned in good condition with any damage declared at time of return.
You will have the vehicle for the rental period shown in your Reservation Confirmation. Failure to return the vehicle on time, or if you do not contact us and get our agreement to an extension of your rental, you are breaking the conditions of this agreement. We can charge you for every day or part-day you have the vehicle after you should have returned it to us.
A charge will be made for any vehicles that are returned late or damaged. If vehicles are returned past the date and specified time, without prior written approval from Cherry Camper Hire, hirer’s render themselves liable to overtime charges of £30.00 + VAT an hour.
Cherry Camper Hire operates a strict NO SMOKING policy in all vehicles. The full security deposit will be forfeited if smoking has taken place in the vehicle.
All pets must be declared at time of booking.
European Insurance Cover – £15 per night.
Pets additional cleaning charge – £10 per trip.
3 bike Cycle rack – £30 per trip.
If you cancel your pre paid reservation within 24 hours of placing the booking Cherry Camper Hire will issue a full refund. If you cancel your reservation more than 24 hours from the time of making a booking your deposit is non-refundable. All bookings cancelled less than 4 weeks from the pick up date and time are non-refundable.
If you do not arrive to collect your vehicle (No show)
Unless you have cancelled your reservation in accordance with the above terms, if you fail to collect your vehicle on the date specified in your booking, no refund will be made.
Additional charges – The Hirer agrees to pay Camper Hire HQ the following:
All rental charges, a cleaning fee of £100.00 if the Vehicle is not returned with the interior in a clean condition.
The cost of any damage to the Vehicle or the property of any third party, subject to the insurance cover.
All government fees and duties etc; all parking fines, other fines or penalties, and/or accidents including third party property damage not reported on return of the Vehicle; any associated administration costs incurred in relation to the Vehicle during the Rental Period; any other fees or charges payable by the Hirer pursuant to this Agreement. This includes any costs incurred by Cherry Camper Hire as a result of any breach by the Hirer of the terms of this Agreement.
There will be a daily rental rate of £100 per day for the period the Vehicle is off fleet for accident repairs.
The cost of recovering a Vehicle that has become bogged.
Fuel surcharge of £2.00 per litre plus £25 should the vehicle be returned without a full diesel fuel tank.
Use of the Vehicle:
The Vehicle is not to be:- driven otherwise than in a cautious, prudent and normal manner; used in a manner which could cause damage; driven in a prohibited area or in an area other than the areas indicated to me by Cherry Camper Hire; driven by a person under the influence of alcohol or drugs or with a blood alcohol level in excess of that permitted by law; left with the ignition key in the vehicle while it is unoccupied; driven by persons under the age of 25 years or who are not authorised by law to drive the Vehicle or named in the agreement; damaged by submersion in water; put into contact with salt water; used for any illegal purpose for any race, rally or contest; used to tow any vehicle (including caravan) or trailer; used to carry passengers or property for hire or reward; used to carry more than 3 passengers plus the driver; used to carry volatile liquids, gases (other than the LPG tank fitted underneath the vehicle), explosives or other corrosive or inflammable material; or otherwise used in breach of the Hirers obligations under this Agreement.
Alterations to the Vehicle
The Hirer shall not make any alterations or additions to the Vehicle without the prior written consent of Cherry Camper Hire.
When the Vehicle is left unattended valuables must be concealed.
The Hirer shall take all reasonable steps to properly maintain the Vehicle, including daily checks on oil and water levels, and tyres and batteries. Cherry Camper Hire will reimburse the Hirer for expenditure up to £50.00 reasonably incurred in rectifying any mechanical failure to the engine of the Vehicle, provided that the Hirer produces relevant receipts at the end of the hire period and has received the prior consent of Cherry Camper Hire and that the damage is not due to any fault or breach of this agreement by the Hirer.
Responsibility if an accident occurs:
In the event of any accident, loss or damage arising out of the use of the vehicle, the Hirer will notify Cherry Camper Hire within 12hrs of the of the event happening, obtain the names and addresses of third parties and any witnesses along with as many photographs as possible, and report the event to the nearest police station.
The Hirer undertakes to assist Cherry Camper Hire in handling any claim arising from any event, including providing all relevant information and photographic evidence and attending Court to give evidence.
Your details will be used by us to complete a DVLA Driving Licence check in accordance with the terms and conditions set out above and will be held for our own records and to process your order. We will not hold any of your financial details, i.e. credit or debit card details.
This agreement shall be governed by English Law and constitutes the entire agreement of the parties and there are no other oral undertakings, warranties or agreements between the parties relating to the subject matter of this agreement. Cherry Camper Hire reserves the right to add or amend any rental charges without prior notice.
